Recognised for his distinctive concoction of African Reggae rhythms with thought provoking lyrics, Pax Nindi is one of the most captivating musical ambassadors ever to emerge from the African soils. Since the mid 80s Zimbabwean born and Malawian bred Pax Nindi aka Harare Dread continues to develop a world-wide musical audience, moving reggae into musical territories mapped out by the sounds and rhythms of Africa.
Backed by his own record label he continues to release music independently, something he claims has stopped restricted airplay in Zimbabwe where at the time some of his lyrics where seen as political. Pax has toured extensively in Europe and one off concerts in Africa, India, Canada, USA and Brazil where he has a strong underground following.
Working with a live band, live performances remain highly energetic; feet skanking and dreads flying with thought provocing lyrics sung in Shoan, Chewa and English. Pax normally works with musicians from the cities he tours regularly e.g. Recife - Trinidade Band; Olinda - Marcelo Santana; London - his Harare Dread Band; Harare - Rain Band and Producer Isaac Chirwa.
In Brazil and Europe he performs his Chewa and Shona lyrics with groups that play other styles of music e.g. Maracatu - Yle de Egba in Olinda; Rock - Ze Pilintra in Recife; Mbira music - Zimbaremabwe in Brighton and Jamaican Mento - Ace Percussion in London.
Since 1985 Paxvision and CAS Record labels have released Pax Nindi/Harare Dread singles and albums like Paxvision, Zion I, Provocation, Live In Deptford, Freedom, Rakoko, Afriteks, Afrikan Dub Master. Dzidzo, Early Days, Original Style, Nindi in Dub and Povo.
In his latest offering "POVO", Pax delivers a musical brew mixing roots African Reggae, UK Jazz, Brazilian Maracatu, Rap and Zimbabwean Mbira music, all in one bag featuring thought provoking lyrics in Shona, Chewa, English and Portuguese . POVO - a collaboration that crosses many cultures
